Alex is an E-Learning technical, content and methodology specialist having extensively supported IT/LMS procurement, installation and rollout for small business i.e. single instances to large global multinationals i.e. complex global multi lingual and regulated market requirements.

Having a deep understands of learning styles and methods (ADDIE)/70 20 10, and instructional design principles.

I bring strong authoring skills with various packages such as Adobe Creative suite ,Captivate, Publisher and Photoshop, Articulate storyline and various others elearning authouring systems, skilled in varoious screen capture techniques i.e. Camtasia and other alternatives such as audacity, I can in addition bring various other programming languages such as HTML,CSS,C and JavaScript which allows for robust and interactive course and learning app development.

Kaplan is a market leader in Financial training and I have enhanced, implemented and refined its Content and in-house processes\methodolgies to the highest levels possible garnering internal support and championing the systems we use. Leading the UK based design team I am responsible for the editing/content creation of all courses and the management of getting them published on the LMS (This is a multifaceted task as the LMS comprises 2 Moodle installations and bespoke XML based system named EXACT). This role is a real start to finish job as it begins working with SME's to ascertain the curriculum requirements/learning needs and has to be tailored to deliver information within a strongly regulated environment, that is subject to sudden and legislative changes. Working to very tight deadlines, the course has to be mapped out the pertinent Instructional design must be applied (ADDIE based) courses created and correctly mapped out along with new and current student enrolments\management within the LMS's that we use. The average amount of students simultaneously enrolled at any one time for the UK alone is roughly 9000 to 11,000 Full time Students with higher uptakes on short term courses/refreshers. (all E-learning courses related to qualification awards I.e. AAT received full endorsement by their awarding bodies).

Working on the Early Training Transformation Agreement (ETTA) with Raytheon Systems Limited designing improved training courses for the armed services. My role involves both training design, and change management. I fulfilled a role in the Analysis Team. The Analysis Team acts as a conduit between the client, and the delivery of successfully redesigned training courses adhering to a change management process.

  • Initiated Moodle as potential LMS for use in the ETTA and built a test Environment that was approved by the JMC's Board for the Tri-Services and has been partially implemented to this day across parts of the services.
  • Experience in interfacing, negotiating and presenting with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience conducting data gathering exercises, allowing the customer to express their views concerns and issues regarding training courses in their area.
  • Designed and produced data collection tools which have been implemented in the current process.
  • Produced reports from data collection exercises in line with contractual requirements.


  • Designed, produced and delivered customer presentations ranging from informal on boarding to formal contractual review meetings.

  • Providing Technical Development and training support supporting QinetiQ and MOD staff across multiple systems/Software and methodologies.
  • Assisting Clients with issues addressing concerns and reviewing Training documentation and storyboarding while making sure it was still designed following agreed best practice process

  • As QinetiQ did not have a LMS I used SharePoint as an collaborative LMS substitute and worked as project lead on its implementation using LDAP to integrate the users seamlessly into the working environment, from there I could build extensions in for the integration of VLE in this case WebEx allowing for the running of Virtual classrooms between sites such as Farnborough and Hebrides Providing a real ROI in terms of savings to the business as well as more efficient provision of learning.
  • Provision as a SME & Teacher of one to one and Classroom Based training for the IT and HR function. As well as concurrent classroom and web based seminar training.

    Apart from being an developer, I enjoy most of my time tinkering with electronics and reading Sci Fi and Fantasy novels.

    When relaxing indoors, I follow a number of sci-fi and fantasy genre movies and television shows, and like to play DnD, and I spend a large amount of my free time exploring the latest technology advancements and waxing philisophical about the inherent pros and cons of aforesaid technology.
